Things to Do in Cabo: 100% Eco-Friendly Snorkel & Sail with Cabo Sails

I love the sea.

Ever since I made my first trip to the beach at the ripe old age of 7, I’ve been obsessed with the waves and mysterious undulations of the ocean. So, it stands to reason, that I try to get out on the water each and every time I’m in beautiful Cabo San Lucas.

On this trip, I wanted to find a more environmentally friendly way to enjoy El Arco and the absolute best views of the beaches and wildlife are available from the water. In Cabo, you have your pick of everything from banana boats and glass-bottom taxis to super-charged fishing crafts and bonafide yachts. (Keep your eye out for a peek at superyacht Attessa in my video!)

I was lucky enough to get in touch with local, private sailboat and catamaran tour/rental company, Cabo Sails. They’re the operators of a very special craft – the 100% eco-friendly Espiritu Santi – the only sailboat of its kind in all of Cabo San Lucas.

My Vegan and Eco-Friendly Sailing Experience

@CaboSails explained that while the upfront cost of a 100% eco-friendly sailboat like Espiritu Santi is much higher, they wanted to start operating in my more sustainable way, and see this as the future of the industry. Click To Tweet

Espiritu Santi is a gorgeous, 44′ Coronado sailboat with the distinction of being the only 100% eco-friendly sailboat in Cabo San Lucas. The boat is run exclusively using electric and solar power. They explained to me that while the upfront cost of a boat like this is much higher, they wanted to start operating in my more sustainable way, and see boats like this as the future of the industry. Their dedication to ‘green’ living is evident onboard, down to the stainless steel tumblers used to serve beverages. The craft offers both sunny and shady areas, with fully cushioned front and back decks for comfortable lounging. While this particular boat is too slow for traditional whale watching, January is part of whale season and just our luck, we spotted two in the water. Keep your eye out for what appears to be a Mama and calf swimming off our bow at the :37 mark.

Being vegan, I sometimes have to pack snacks to keep me going but Cabo Sails had it all taken care of. They accommodated both myself and my omni guests by providing a selection of vegan and non-vegan options on board. It was amazing to have something satisfying to munch on after splashing about around Pelican Rock.

So cool that Cabo Sails has a solar powered engine sail boat. I love Cabo, so I’m going to look more into renting from them next time I’m there. Thank you!
